So you’ve finally decided to take the plunge and get that perfect smile you always wanted. Here’s a lowdown on what to expect during the dental veneer process:
- Assessing your smile:
Your primary consultation with Smilekraft Dentistry allows you to discuss what you don’t like about your smile. Dr. Priyank will analyse your teeth, gums, study facial symmetry and discuss the best treatment plan for your smile taking into consideration all your needs and concerns. In some cases, additional treatments such as root canals and gum alignment may be discussed. - Preparing your teeth:
At this stage, your teeth are prepared for creating a veneer mould. With the help of local anaesthesia, they are numbed in order to scrape off their front surfaces. Between 0.3-0.5 mm of the tooth is shaved off in order to place the veneer. A dental ‘putty’ is placed in your mouth to imprint a copy of your teeth and assess your bite. This mould will be used to create your veneers. The final stage in this process involves selecting the shade of your veneer. - Placing your veneer:
In about 3-4 days, the laboratory sends the prepared veneers to Smilekraft Dentistry. It is now time for the final appointment which includes placing the veneers and finally bonding them. An etching gel is used to make the tooth surface rough, followed by cementing the veneer using a curing light. Minor adjustments, if any, are made followed by final touch-ups and polishing.
